Fortnightly Seminars of the Standing Research Organisation

A regular in-semester programme where members choose research topics, write papers and defend them in discussion.

VAN runs a standing research organisation whose fortnightly seminars sustain academic exchange among members. Each semester members select research topics in their own fields, write and present papers, and discuss them in depth with attendees.

Recent seminars examined the causal link between two-party politics and polarisation, structural limits of Korea’s national pension, contradictions in the doctrine of acquisitive prescription, the balance between political diversity and governing efficiency, and an empirical study of the gender hourly wage gap.

The programme continues each semester so that members analyse social, political and economic phenomena critically and develop arguments from differing perspectives and evidence.
